So... I've been out of the picture for a while now as I've been concentrating all my spare time to finishing off the new fwfr, but I'm back to try and catch up on things now.

Clearly there's been some problematic film removals and we need a better system to deal with this, rather than just removing them without warning.

Firstly I'm going to re-add the films mentioned here and then we can start discussing here if any should be removed. Same goes for future removals.

One more thing... I'm thinking that if a film has a rich history of fun reviews already it should probably get a special exception to removal whatever the definition of a film.

By here, I hope you mean the other thread where there are loads of examples, not just this one that has only just been created.

Hhmmm, I see your reasoning, but I think it is more important to re-add all the unambiguous films that you have removed rather than some dross which people took to reviewing in a schoolboy way.

Or you could say thank you to Benj for agreeing to address the issue at all and taking positive steps to fix it Salopian.

Benj is rightly responding to the fact that reviews that have existed on the site for a long time and have received a lot of votes (dross, reviewed in a schoolboy way, as you put it) have been deleted and that has alienated a lot of people. Reinstating those films and those reviews is clearly more important than reinstating a film that only had your review attached to it just because you can't remember what you've been to see in the cinema this year. Have some sense of perspective.

Please have some sense of perspective too: a bunch of puns for some tawdry porno is not exactly an important issue either. At least when Benj removed some of those, he was loosely following his own publicised decision; he has not offered any explanation for why he started decimating real films all over the place.

I think it is an important issue when it's making long time users not want to submit reviews or use the site any more. There couldn't be anything more important.

Thanks Benj. Much appreciated. Sorry for the delay in picking this up. I am one of the long-time users Demonic mentions, who had been alienated and gone away for a while.

And, hey, what's so wrong about schoolboyish puns sending up crap porn movies? That's my hobby you're denigrating, Salopian. What would you say if I was equally rude about your stamp-collecting, train-spotting or what ever else tickles your fancy?

benj -

I know you're getting ready for the unveiling of the new site, but if you could take a second to re-add this film, which was taken off the site some months ago, I have a new review I'd like to submit for it.

I'd appreciate it if you could check out the latest Three Musketeers

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1509767/

I tried to add the film with a review but it was declined as not a film, which is obviously an error.

Thanks.

Not to nit-pick or anything, but this was one removal that's been stuck in my craw for some time...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094965/

It's even listed as a 'made for cable TV movie' by IMDB, the operative word being... movie

Just thought I'd weigh in...
