I know I've talked about my friend Kennetha on here before. She was my goddaughter Sunshine's mother. She has suffered for about 10 years from the effects of Hepatitis C, gotten from her now deceased husband Tim. The last year has been rough for her as her liver allowed a HUGE accumulation of fluid in her abdomen that required her to go in the hospital every 3 weeks or so to have it drained so she could BREATHE without difficulty. She's been working toward getting put on the transplant list for about 4 months and had an important meeting last Wednesday with the transplant donor people.
ANYWAY... they called her during the night and she went in for the transplant this morning. She's being kept sedated at this point until tomorrow. The surgery went well, the blood flow seems to be good and we're keeping our fingers crossed. Prayers are requested. So relieved. I dunno what I'd do if something happened to her. She's my rock who sometimes gives me a kick if I need it. So glad and grateful (and still concerned!) |

Cari Lyn said they are watching because her arteries are a lot smaller than the ones on the liver, so they are being cautious. She said her other muscles have just shrunken away to nothing because her body has been protecting her heart and not the long muscles. We wondered if the recent heart attack scare may have pushed her up the list some. Anyway, Cari will let me know if anything comes up! |

I just got off the phone with Kennetha and I simply cannot believe how good she sounds. She hasn't sounded like that for MONTHS. Funny what an engine overhaul will do for ya, huh? Or a new liver. She wanted me to pass on her thanks to all of my FWFR friends out there who have sent her thoughts and prayers. She's sure they were heard! |

Update: my friend Kennetha Watts wrote: Went to Cincy this a.m. for a CT to prove I was in dire need of another liver transplant....Got a call this afternoon saying God had my back all along! Apparently the reason my bloodwork had all been so good was because the artery had rerouted itself and was filling in nicely, thank you very much! PTL!! Thank you all for the prayers and thank you Jesus for answered prayers! Talk about AMAZING GRACE!!! To quote Rickey Watts, God is still in the miracle business!
She asked me to pass along her thanks for all your good wishes, prayers and hope. She notes she's NOT totally in the clear, but they have removed her from the transplant list this time - they were thinking the new liver was failing, but it seems to have healed itself. In any event, she is still thankful for your continuing prayers and best wishes. Am I glad? In my best Fargo accent I'll say "Yeah, uh huh, you betcha." Thanks for me too folks !!! |
