Truly saddened by this- Earl absolutely revolutionised the world of banjo and was largely what inspired me to take up the instrument myself. His rendition of Foggy Mountain Breakdown from back in the 40s still amazes me as Scruggs' banjo cracks away like a gattling gun throughout it; I can only imagine how mind-blowing the sound must have been to people who thought they'd heard all a banjo could do. Always hoped I'd see him perform one day
