Facebook is 10 years old. I first learned of it here on the fourum, when kingofcats posted about it, saying that it was "another time sink" or something like that. As much as I 'hate' Facebook, I have come to use it daily. I blame FWFR, of course.  |

Ha! I got roped into FB by benj, of all people!! I asked him about some photos someone had taken and he directed me to the place. I've had some good fortune with the place though: a sweetheart from more than 30 years ago found me, after her parents had essentially barred her from contacting me; and I used it as a forum to get to know a woman with whom I shared an amazing love -- that led to a LOT of amazing sex -- for a while.
I try not to live on it; but I have to say that it has proven useful and fortuitous on occasion. |

Talking of Facebook and 10, I saw the film on 10-10-10 and posted a status from the cinema (I always sit on the back row, so the light from my 'phone didn't bother anyone) at 10 p.m., obviously. I got so sick of using it too much that I went cold turkey over a year ago, so it is possible. I do miss the convenience of contact with friends in other countries, which is the vast majority of ones I have, but I e-mail the most important ones like the olden days. It's amazing what can be done on it now, though -- I know of a bank that offers services, including sending money to friends whose account details you don't know, via the site. So that's a sign that Benj will be able to e.g. link likes there with votes, should he choose to do so. |
